Gusty winds wreach havoc in Bandipora: Woman killed, 2 injured, Army comes to rescue

BANDIPORA, Jun 18: A woman was killed and two others injured after a tree fell on their shelter due to gusty winds in upper reaches of Lashkot area of Chandaji in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.


Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that a woman identified as Zareena Begum, wife of Shair Mohammad Kasana of Quilmuqam village lost their live this yesterday after a tree fell on their shelter at Lashkoot forests of the district.


They further said that the deceased belong to Gujjar community and each year during summer they migrate to the upper reaches for grazing cattle.


A team of 26 Assam rifles rescued both the family members after tree fell on their shelter in yesterday due to gusty winds. The team of army gave them first aid treatment.


Talking to the Kashmir Despatch one of the local Ghulam Hassan said that timely efforts of Indian army saved the life of other two family persons. He said that the team evacuated the family on shoulders upto the road of Chandaji from where they were shifted to district hospital Bandipora.


“Despite adverse weather conditions ,all the family members were rescued provided medical care by Indian army,” he added.
Later the injured woman succumbed to her injuries at district hospital Bandipora.
