Hajjin boil over local militant’s killing, six injured

Hajjin, Dec 09 : At least 6 persons were injured when government forces resorted to teargas shelling and pellet firing to break up protests that rocked on Sunday afternoon against the killing Hajjin boy who recently joined militant ranks has been identified among other slains.

Mudasir Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Rashid Parray of Khankha Mohalla Hajjin was killed along with two other militants in a 18 hour long gunfight at Mujgund on Srinagar-Bandipora road.

Reports and eyewitnesses said that soon after news of Hajjin militant identified among other slains spread in the area, scores of youth took to streets and staged a massive demonstration.

As the protesting youth marched, forces swung into action and fired tear-gas, ‘pava’ shells and pellets to disperse the protesters,” witnesses said. As police tried to push the youth back, they hurled stones and bricks, resulting in massive clashes.

Witnesses said six youth sustained injuries in the clashes at Hajjin.

Amid sloganeering massive clashes in the area was on when last reports came in.
