SRINAGAR, Sep 12: In a significant administrative reshuffle within the subordinate judiciary, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has transferred Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and placed his services at the disposal of the Chief Justice for his adjustment as Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice against a vacant post.
The decision was issued by the Office of the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh through Order No. 1429 of 2026/RG dated September 12, 2026.
As per the order, Zargar, who was serving as Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, has been transferred in the interest of administration. His services have been placed at the disposal of the Chief Justice for his adjustment as Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice against the vacant post.
The order marks a change in the administrative and judicial responsibilities at the Principal District and Sessions Court, Srinagar, one of the important judicial establishments in the Union Territory.
The High Court has simultaneously made an interim arrangement to ensure that the functioning of the Principal District and Sessions Court, Srinagar, continues without interruption. Under the same order, the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.
The Special Judge Anti-Corruption will continue to hold the additional charge until the post of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, is filled on a regular basis.
The arrangement is intended to maintain continuity in the administration of justice and ensure that the functioning of the principal district court is not affected by the transfer of its incumbent.
The order has been issued by M.K. Sharma, Registrar General, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and is dated September 12, 2026.
