Ganderbal,July 13 : Hashmat Saliem, a young martial arts enthusiast and student of Class 3rd at Doon International School, Singhpora Patan, Baramulla, made his mark at the 5th District Ganderbal Pencak Silat Championship by securing a Gold Medal. The championship was held at Salsabeel Educational School, Safapora, from July 13 to 14, 2025.
Hashmat’s achievement stands out not only because of his young age but also due to his exceptional skill and discipline in the sport of Pencak Silat — a traditional martial art that emphasizes both physical agility and mental focus.
The event saw participation from various schools and clubs across the district, with young athletes showcasing their talent in different weight and age categories. Hashmat’s performance earned him accolades from coaches, referees, and spectators alike.
