Will resign but never compromise over the trust of people
Srinagar, Nov 29: Incumbent Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu on Tuesday addressed a presser at Mayor’s Private office at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Lal Chowk where he was accompanied by former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Mohammad Imran and few other SMC corporators.
He said that enough numbers are with them to prove majority and their group will continue to work for the betterment of people without compromising on ethics and values of trust.
“We are not going to give a green go to the corruption rather our crusade against the corrupt shall continue. We have ample number of corporators with us to prove our majority. So these lowly tactics won’t work at all,” he said.
Junaid said he will prefer to resign rather to compromise over the trust of people.
“You can check my assets after and before becoming the Mayor. I have become poorer which is enough proof that I have not amassed illegal wealth. But can others prove themselves on this litmus test,”
The presser comes as a rebuttal after BJP’s corporators had given a press conference yesterday taking their support back from Junaid Azim Mattu.
There are speculations that a floor test might be initiated soon by the independent group of corporators with the support of BJP corporators.
