SRINAGAR, Sep 19: A customer from the Kashmir capital Srinagar complained that the electrical equipment company, the ‘Havells’ has denied him the replacement of defective electric switches and sockets during the warranty period.
The customer Nisar Ahmad from Srinagar said that he purchased the electric equipment including the wire, switches, and sockets, from the company in 2016. The articles carried a replacement warranty of ten years.
“Many electrical switches and 3-pin sockets that I purchased have now gone dud. When I registered the complaint with the customer care of the company they assured me that the defective switches would be replaced. But the local executive of the company informed me that the defective switches and sockets cannot be replaced because the company no longer makes this model of power points.”
“On my repeated requests to the local executive, he assured me that he would look for the required switches/sockets from some dealer of the company, but then never responded,” Ahmad said.
“The company has taken me for a ride. I fail to understand how come they give ten-year replacement guarantee when they midway stop production of these power points,” Ahmad asked.
When contacted, the company executive told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the switches and sockets will be replaced sooner or later. “The customer ought to call the toll-free number again and once the same series of switches and sockets are available, those will be provided to the customer,” he said.
