Srinagar, July 25: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, has stated that it is not possible to announce summer vacations in Kashmir schools again, keeping in mind the need to complete the students’ syllabus.
Taking to media, as per Kashmir Despatch Bidhuri explained that there are two key factors to consider – the need to ensure students’ syllabus is completed, and the fact that school timings have already been changed to address the heatwave situation.
“There are a few parents who claim that their children are unable to sleep properly due to the heat. However, despite this, summer vacations will not be announced again,” Bidhuri said. He stressed that the decision will be made keeping the overall situation in mind, including the syllabus and curriculum activities.
The Div Com expressed hope that the weather predictions for the coming days are favorable, and changes in the weather could ease the situation. However, he emphasized that all factors will be carefully evaluated before making any decision.
Bidhuri also assured that students who are unable to attend school due to the current conditions will not be penalized for their attendance.
The recent directive from the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) to alter school timings to 8 am to 1 pm has faced significant backlash from parents and educators, who believe the measure is inadequate and fails to address the core issue of the heatwave.
