Sopore, June 07 : Several residential houses were partially damaged while as fruit orchards suffered extensive damages after gusty winds followed by rain and hailstorm across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said life in Zaingeer belt of Sopore came to a standstill after hit by strong winds followed by heavy rains.
Reports said several residential house have been damaged at Zaingeer belt of Sopore including Bomai , Janwara and other parts.
Reports said the windstorm also destroyed standing crops at many places in Sopore belt.
An official at civil administration in Sopore told Kashmir Despatch that teams will visit these affected areas to assess the situation and to review the losses caused by rains and windstorm.
Meanwhile reports reaching this newspaper said strong winds followed by rain and hailstorm wreaked havoc in the parts of Budgam District this evening. They said that orchards in the district suffered extensive damage due to hailstorm.
Similar reports of damage to orchards were also received from other parts of the valley. However no loss of any life or injury was reported from anywhere in Kashmir valley.
