Hope Disability Centre Empowers Athletes for National Championships

Hope Disability Centre, supported by the HCL Foundation, organized a state-level selection event for the “Sports for Change” initiative, promoting sports and inclusivity.

The event witnessed the participation of athletes from six districts in Jammu & Kashmir, showcasing their skills in various sports disciplines such as Carrom, Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Chess, Long Jump, High Jump, and races. The selected athletes will represent the state at the national level, providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities.

The event was attended by esteemed guests, including the Assistant Development Commissioner and the Joint Director of Kashmir Youth Service and Sports, who appreciated the initiative’s objectives.

This event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Youth and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, the District Administration of Ganderbal, the HCL Foundation, and Bal Raksha Bharat Save the Children.

The Executive Director of She Hope Society highlighted the empowerment aspect of the initiative, aimed at uplifting athletes from marginalized communities.

The representatives from the HCL Foundation and officials reiterated the purpose of the “Sports for Change” initiative in providing opportunities for children from underserved areas to demonstrate their abilities on a national platform.

Certificates and mementoes were awarded to participants and winners, and the event concluded with refreshments.

Since its establishment in 2017, the “Sports for Change” initiative has positively impacted over 21,000 athletes and awarded 113 sports scholarships, serving as a source of hope for aspiring sports talents.
