Srinagar, July 23: The houses of two active terrorists were demolished in separate overnight operations in south Kashmir, officials said on Thursday, amid intensified counter-terrorism measures following the recent terror attack in Anantnag that left a police head constable dead.
According to officials, the residential houses belonged to two active militants operating in south Kashmir. The structures were demolished during the intervening night, with security agencies stating the action formed part of the ongoing crackdown against terrorist networks in the Valley.
The demolitions come a day after Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi was shot dead by terrorists in Anantnag while on Amarnath Yatra security duty, triggering a massive search operation and intensified anti-terror actions across south Kashmir.
Security forces have stepped up cordon-and-search operations, raids and surveillance across the region in an effort to trace those involved in the Anantnag attack and dismantle militant support infrastructure.
Officials said further operations are underway and reiterated that stringent action would continue against active terrorists and their networks.
No injuries were reported during the demolition operations. Further details are awaited.
