Huge quantity of timber recovered, 2 smugglers arrested in Rafiabad

Srinagar, June 14: Police in Sopore have arrested two timber smugglers and seized illicit timber from their possession.


A police officer told Kashmir Despatch, Acting on specific information A forest team along with station house officer Dangiwacha under the supervision of SSP Sopore arrested two notorious timber smugglers in Rafiabad belt and seized illicit timber from their possession. Officer said they were carrying illicit timber in an auto bearing registration number JK05B 8479.


They were identified as Irfan Ahmad Tantary son of Mohammad Abdullah Tantray resident of Kanthbagh Baramulla and Firdous Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah Mir resident of Tarzoo Sopore.


Officer said a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
