Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated Diwali with soldiers near the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
“I am not here as your PM, but as a family member. I have brought blessings of crores of Indians,” PM Modi said addressing soldiers in Nowshera.
Wearing an Indian army camouflage jacket and hat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the soldiers with Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
“The moment I landed here, my heart was filled with thrill. This place’s present is an example of your bravery. You have given a befitting reply to all the conspiracies here in Nowshera,” he said.
This is the second time PM Modi is celebrating Diwali with troops in the district. In 2019, the Prime Minister celebrated Diwali at an Army division in Rajouri.
Army Chief General MM Naravane arrived in Jammu on Wednesday to oversee the arrangements. He visited the forward areas to take stock of the security situation.
For the last three weeks, the Indian army has been fighting a group of highly-entrenched militants in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of the Jammu division. So far, nine soldiers have been killed in the gun battle. ( Agencies)
