As COVAID-19 victims are battling for life against deadly virus and unhygienic surroundings and poor facilities adds their woes as they are getting mentally depressed which ll affect their confidence and morale to beat COVAID-19.
A sorry state of Government Medical College Baramulla where sanitation is too poor and surrounding facilities are quite challenging which puts a negative impact on patient’s health.
A 36-year-old who is battling for life against COVID-19 sharing his awful experience while being kept under isolated in GMC Baramulla said to Kashmir Despatch, spending time under isolation in GMC Baramulla is not only threatening but horrified as well. He complained about unhygienic washrooms, blocked commodes, sewage water is lying over the floor which is such a hectic for a patient and it only gives an opportunity to different infections and viruses to grow. He said if the medicines are going to combat COVID-19 but surely the victim will carry out some other infections too with this poor unhygienic sanitation.
The victim while crying over the phone told Kashmir Despatch, God forbid if COVID-19 patient dies over here surely many more deaths are on Cards.
While asking doctors for medical assistance mostly they use to deny to come in contact/ near us he added.
Medical Superintendent of GMC Baramulla Dr. Syed Masood Bukhari rejected the claims while saying while ago I came across the COVID-19 isolation wards and didn’t find any such issue even tough if any patient requires further assistance they can directly reach me out and I ‘ll look into the matter.
Principal Government Medical College Baramulla Abdul Hameed when contacted told this newspaper, that shortage of resources is the main concern at this moment, however, whatever resources are available we put them at their disposal, he said we have decided to move out these patients to COVID-19 hospital in a phased manner. He, however, said that expectations of patients are too high, we would love to deliver if possible as they are seeking five-star facilities but in a real note it’s not possible for us to provide in such a threatening period, so they should also cooperate and whatever is possible for us surely we will try to provide it.
When asked about unhygienic washrooms.
He replied some washrooms were under maintenance as everyone is well aware that markets are closed so the contract is unable to get the required items to complete the pending work.
