Srinagar, Sep 04: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar-IPS, chaired a security review meeting at PCR Kashmir on Friday ahead of the forthcoming International Film Festival.
In a handout, the police said that the meeting focused on strengthening security arrangements and ensuring comprehensive preparedness for smooth and secure conduct of the festival.
Officials said the meeting was attended by senior officers from SB, SSB, ITBP, CID Kashmir, CKR Srinagar, Traffic, Armed/IR, CRPF, BSF, Police, Railways, Security, SDRF, Army’s 15 Corps, Information, Tourism and Fire & Emergency Services.
At the outset, IGP Kashmir reviewed overall security preparedness, deployment plans and arrangements for the festival. Detailed discussions were held on venue security, deployment of personnel, access control, surveillance, crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency response and inter-agency coordination.
IGP Kashmir stressed adequate and strategic deployment at all identified venues keeping in view expected movement of visitors, participants and dignitaries. He also directed thorough route clearance and deployment of Road Opening Parties (ROPs) along designated routes to ensure secure movement.
Officers were directed to put in place effective crowd management, regulate entry/exit points and formulate traffic management plans to minimise public inconvenience.
IGP emphasised close coordination and real-time information sharing among all agencies to maintain a robust security grid and directed officers to maintain heightened alertness and strengthen surveillance.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive review of preparedness and directions for further strengthening security arrangements in coordination with all concerned agencies.
