Illicit timber seized in Rafiabad, driver associates escapes

Baramulla, Jan 02 : A forest team led by Range officer Doabgah on Tuesday night recovered large quantity of illicit timber from a vehicle in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad during naka checking.

Sources told Kashmir Despatch that a Tata mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK05 B/1238 loaded with illicit timber was on way to lower belt of Rafiabad when officials seized it.

The sources said that a naka was laid on Baramulla_Handwara national highway on Tuesday night and in the connection a Tata mobile vehicle was intercepted in which large quantity of illicit timber was recovered.

Sources however added that the driver along with his associates managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness.

Meanwhile in this regard a FIR number 2/19 U/S 6 F act 379 RPC has been registered in Dangiwacha Police Station and all the accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Ganaie alias Ganie, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganie, Din Mohammad Lone son of Abdul Rehman Lone, Mohammad Iqbal Darzi alias Dar son of Ali Mohammad Darzi all residents of Nadihal Rafiabad.

Sources further said to this newspaper that a manhunt has been launched to nab the escaped smugglers.
