Uri Lecturer develops website, mobile app for students, faculty

BARAMULLA, Aug 14: Aijaz Ahmed sheikh, a finest mind has put in, best of his capabilities, to reach out to the students’ community affiliated with the government higher secondary school where he works as a lecturer. He has not only tried to facilitate easy access for the students but the teachers to interact with each other while staying at home during this deadly pandemic.

Aijaz son of Noor-ud-Din Sheikh who is an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police resides in Chandanwari tehsil Buniyar in Baramulla district. He is a PhD scholar in information technology and teaches IT in Government Higher Secondary School Nambla-Uri.

After around four months of rigorous efforts he developed a school website and a mobile Android Application for his school both of which are operational now despite many hurdles posed by slow internet speed of 2G. He did complete his dream project without getting his regular online classes hampered. Aijaz employed   all his skills to create these virtual assets for the school where he is posted.

He created a website www.ghssnambla.in which offers a wide range of information helpful for school students as well as teachers. According to Aijaz a brief gist about this school website is that offers online admissions (Students can easily apply for admission through Computer or smart phones at home), online result of elementary classes as well as school assessment exams, students can avail service of Learning Management System as provided by directorate of school education Kashmir, school notification for both teachers and students, E-learning (Virtual Groups, Youtube Channels, Zooms Classes links), E-Content and assignments by State Institute of Education, Kashmir and Information about School, Information about faculty.

Aijaz told Kashmir Despatch that to make Information accessibility more user friendly from school he formed a school Android application (Govt.HSS Nambla) on Google play store as well. The link of the application on Play Store is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghssnambla.ourapp.

This Application is a multipronged platform where students, parents and teachers related to HSS Nambla-Uri can avail different online services. Students can access websites easily without memorizing the website address, LMS (Learning Management System of JK Education Department) without memorizing any website address, access notifications regarding exams, admissions, results, etc. in an uncomplicated way, E-content and assignment by SIE, Kashmir with a single click.

Besides, the mobile application can offer online results of elementary classes and school assessment tests as well. Students can apply for online admissions and currently both (website and an android application) are beta versions. “We intend  to include more features in the future like School Events, Co-curricular activities, yearly institutional plan, school different committees information, school annual magazine, prospectus, etc,” Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, told Kashmir Despatch.
