Srinagar, Jul 17 : In a first of its kind, the Zuljinah procession in Srinagar’s Zadibal area has seen a resemblance with Karbala procession as the water sprinkles were installed by the Mohalla Committees to provide respite from the scorching heat for the mourners participating in the procession on Youm-e-Ashoora.
The water sprinkles installed atop on Alamgari Bazar stretch has brought relief to the mourners for the first time as the water sprinkles kept the environment cool for them during the procession amidst the scorching heat today.
Thousands of mourners participated in the Zuljinah procession today, which started from Gulshan Bagh Bota Kadal to Zadibal Imam Bargah here.
Sheezan Ahmad, a mourner told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the water sprinkles have been installed atop for the first time in Kashmir. “These water sprinkles are being installed in Karbala and other places, but for the first time, these facilities have been made available for the mourners in Srinagar,” he said.
He said earlier the people used to sprinkle water through the traditional pots, but now as technology has evolved people have brought this facility here to bring relief to the mourners—(KNO)
