In Pictures : Kashmir on high alert ahead of Republic Day

To maintain close vigil upon suspicious and shady elements ahead of January 26, security agencies have mounted its arrangements in capital city Srinagar and other parts of valley to celebrate Republic Day function peacefully.

Besides employing sharp shooters, security agencies have put in place electronic and digital gazettes at sensitive areas to eye over the developments around the locations where Republic Day functions to be celebrated.

Top officials of security agencies have been given task to don’t let any element to create trouble in Valley ahead of Republic Day when Tri-color is being unfurled at all district headquarters by civil and security officials.

Heavy deployment of forces who have erected barricades at several locations where vehicles are being thoroughly frisked.

There is heightened security ahead of the first Republic Day in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the revocation of Article 370 on August 5.

The J&K Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, in his recent press conference in Srinagar, said that there were no specific inputs about possible militant strikes ahead of the Republic day but given the amount of arms and ammunition recovered by the security forces, nothing is left to chance.
