Dubai, Mar 5: With the T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner, the excitement among fans in India and Pakistan has been soaring, especially with the clash of the two Asian giants being held in New York.

According to the T20 World Cup schedule, India and Pakistan are pitted to face each other on June 9. With this, there has been a meteoric rise in the price of the tickets — which were sold for $6 (about Rs 497) during the official sale — at the resale market.

According to several media reports, tickets on platforms like StubHub and SeatGeek are being resold for at least double their original cost.

The VIP tickets for the India vs Pakistan clash were initially priced at $400 (about Rs 33,000 excluding taxes) on the official website. The price, however, has surged to as high as Rs 33 lakh ($40,000) on resale platforms. And after the addition of platform fees, the price increases even further to $50,000 (about Rs 41 lakh).

The cheapest ticket for the India and Pakistan T20 World Cup match in New York costs around $1,259 (Rs 1.04 lakh) in the resale market.

The ticket prices are now similar to the cost of tickets for some of the major sporting events in the US, reports stated, with the average World Series ticket costing around $1,100 (Rs 91,000) while the average Super Bowl 58 ticket reached $9,000 (Ra 7.45 lakh) as of last year.

The upcoming India versus Pakistan clash is expected to set a new record as the country gears up to host an International Cricket Council (ICC) match for the first time. The ICC decided to take the T20 World Cup tournament to American shores to promote cricket in the US.–(Agencies)
