International women’s day celebrated in AGS Margund

Ganderbal :- Indian Army’s Wussan Battalion in continuation with its efforts to promote Women Empowerment celebrated International Women’s Day at AGS, Margund.

The event was a testimony to the Wussan Battalion’s continuous efforts to promote Gender Equality and to pay homage to the Kashmiri women by acknowledging their contribution towards the overall development of the Kashmiri society.

The event started with MC of the program welcoming the women audience. Esteemed speakers from various fields shared thier share of struggle story with the audience pertaining to Kashmiri women.

Prof. Sadaf Nazir, Principal, Govt. Degree College Kangan, spoke about importance of Women Education in the Kashmiri society.

Saima Ahad, who has recently cleared JKAS spoke about her struggle story and how she prepared for the exam and the challenges she faced in her journey to success.

Arifa Bilal, professional powerlifter and fitness trainer, spoke about how Kashmiri Women are
overcoming the odds and making a mark all the fields, which were considered male dominated in earlier times.

Hafsa Mushtaq, student of M.Sc Srinagar University shared her experiences and the way ahead for Kashmiri women to overcome the hurdles and achieve their share of success.

Marvi Majeed, journalist from Voice of Valley spoke about how Media- a powerful agent of change, can be an equally powerful agent of oppression.

Tasmeena Adil, DDC , Kangan last of the speakers, spoke about Kashmiri women being the pillar of traditional Kashmiri society and it being women centric.

The audience perspective round was the highlight of the event, wherein, the audience spoke about the challenges they face as women and shared their views.

All the audience and speakers expressed their gratitude towards the Indian Army for celebrating International Women’s Day with such vigour and gusto!
