Sopore, Dec 22 : Irfan Ali, an independent candidate from Shalpora Sopore made history by defeating National Conference (NC) candidate by huge margins in ULB election in Shalpora ward of Sopore area of North Kashmirs Baramulla district.
In Shalpora Ward, Irfan Ali, a social worker and an independent candidate for ULB won the election, which has been a volatile area. In Shalpora for years, people would boycott elections be it State Elections or Centre Elections.
However, this time around Irfan Ali not only emerged as a winner but managed to defeat NC candidate by a huge margin.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Irfan Ali said, “This is just unbelievable. I am thankful to my voters and family who have supported me in this DDC elections”.
He added, “I will keep my promise and will work for the betterment of my society”.
Meanwhile , Out of 8 ULB by-polls seats in Sopore National Confrence won 6 while two i dipendent candidates became winner.
