Baramulla: The residents of Jal Sheeri Baramulla in north Kashmir Friday staged a protest against the authorities for failing to provide potable water to the residents.
Carrying utensils in their hands, the residents assembled on the road, staged a protest against Jal Shakti department for ‘failing’ to provide them regular water supply for the past one year.
As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, the protesters said that their area in the entire Baramulla district is worst affected due to non- availability of adequate water supply and in this holy month of Ramadan suffers more.
The angry protestors alleged that the department is non serious in repairing the fault in the pipeline which resulted in a water crisis in the area.
They said despite approaching concerned authorities many times but no steps were taken in redressing the issue.
“It is the matter of great concern that even during the holy month of Ramadan, the administration fails to provide drinking water to the people of this village,” said a group of women who were part of the protest”.
They said we are being forced to consume contaminated water, which has affected our health, however, appealed to the local admin to address the issue on a priority basis orelse will continue our protest till the issue gets resolved.
