Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi extends admission date to Oct 10 for Kashmir students

Srinagar, Oct 03 : The Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi has extended the last date for submission of admission forms to October 10, for those students of Kashmir who have qualified the entrance exams, but couldn’t contact the University authorities and complete the admission formalities on stipulated time, after the authorities snapped all forms of communication post abrogation of Article 370.


Scores of students every year appear for entrance examinations to secure their admission in JamiaMilliaIslamia University, Delhi for different Graduate and Post Graduate courses.

Similarly, this academic session also, several students from Kashmir has secured their admission in the Varsity, but due to the communication blockade since August 5, these students remained clueless about the results.

Scores of students from Kashmir pursuing their career in the Varsity has appraised the authorities about the prevailing situation in Kashmir and the helplessness of these students to check the results available online in absence of Internet and mobile phone services.

“People have no internet access because of which these students have not seen their results on time, so that they could have completed their admission formalities on time,” Arif Ahmad, a Kashmiri student studying in Jamia told.

Accordingly a letter was written on Monday by the Varsity registrar to resident commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir extending the date of admission to October 10.

“It was effort to reach out to those students, who have not seen their results due to communication blockade in Kashmir,” Ahmad said, adding, the affected students of Kashmir can submit the applications to the office of the Resident Commissioner, J&K till 10 October, 2019, who act as Nodal Office to collect all the applications of such candidates to secure the admission.

Pertinently, hundreds of students from Kashmir have moved to different states to secure the admission in different colleges and universities in last few weeks.Similarly, students preparing for different competitive exams have also left the Kashmir due to the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
