JAMMU, Jan 28: In a significant development, a General House Meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Bank Officers Association Jammu Unit convened at Press Club Jammu today.
The meeting, attended by a substantial number of officers from various districts, witnessed a unanimous decision to form an election committee urgently.
This committee, comprising Mr. Suraj Sharma, Mr. Mahesh Shivgotra, and Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, is tasked with conducting long-overdue elections to revitalize the democratic process within the association.
During the meeting, officers from District Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Samba, Kathua, and Jammu expressed their concern over the illegal occupation of the union office by individuals who have already completed their term in office.
The participants strongly condemned this act, emphasizing the need for a fresh body to address longstanding issues faced by the officers’ fraternity.
The urgency of the situation stems from the fact that the last elections of JKBOA Jammu union took place in December 2021, and as of December 11, 2023, the association had exceeded the stipulated timeframe for holding new elections.
The newly formed election committee aims to conduct free and fair elections, paving the way for a renewed leadership to engage with the management in resolving pending issues affecting the officers. The move underscores the commitment of the association to uphold democratic principles and address the legitimate concerns of its members.
