Hiring likely for banking assistants and officers in J&K, Ladakh; notification expected shortly

SRINAGAR, Sep 22: Jammu and Kashmir Bank is preparing to launch a fresh recruitment exercise for banking assistants and officers, ending a gap of nearly five years in regular hiring, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee said on Tuesday.
Addressing the bank’s 88th Annual General Meeting at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar, Chatterjee said the recruitment process had reached an advanced stage and the formal notification was likely to be issued within the next few days.
He said the bank had finalised its arrangements with the agency responsible for conducting the recruitment examinations. The necessary discussions had been completed and an agreement had already been signed, paving the way for the recruitment process to commence.
According to Chatterjee, the forthcoming exercise will cover vacancies for both assistant-level positions and officer posts in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The bank had last undertaken recruitment on this scale after 2021.
“The bank will come out with a notification for recruitment for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. After 2021, the bank is going for recruitment of both assistants as well as officers,” he said.
The J&K Bank chief also indicated that recruitment outside the Union Territories could be more selective. Rather than undertaking large-scale hiring across its operations elsewhere, the bank may consider filling a limited number of positions in other states to meet specific operational requirements.
A key consideration in such appointments would be proficiency in regional languages, he said.
J&K Bank has a presence in 22 states outside Jammu and Kashmir. Chatterjee said employees familiar with local languages are important for effective customer interaction and delivery of banking services in these markets.
He said the bank could, if required, recruit a small number of personnel in other states to supplement its existing workforce, particularly where language proficiency is necessary.
The forthcoming recruitment is expected to draw significant interest among banking aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with the detailed number of vacancies, eligibility conditions, examination schedule and other terms expected to be specified in the official notification.
