Srinagar, Dec 28 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday resumed the party activities in Jammu and Kashmir after the gap of five months.

The activities of JKPCC had come to halt in Kashmir since August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories—Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to the wire service— the Congress here in the Valley resumed their party activities post August 5 and celebrated the party’s 135th foundation day.

“A meeting was held today at the party headquarters in Srinagar chaired by Abdul Goni Khan wherein leaders from across the Valley participated,” sources said.

The meeting discussed the future course of action and also vowed to fight against the anti-people designs of the ruling party. “We will fight for the rights and against the anti-people of designs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tooth and nail,” the meeting said, adding that such actions of the government cannot be tolerated.

The leaders present on the 135th foundation day in Kashmir remembered the contribution of great leaders and crores of party workers who fought against the mighty British rulers and underwent numerous sufferings and sacrifices for the sake of attaining freedom for the country.

They also recalled the long history of Congress party which they said is full of sacrifices.

Similarly, the 135th foundation day of Congress was also celebrated in Jammu region. (KNO)
