Srinagar, Feb 07 : The Government of India (GoI) informed Parliament on Friday that Jammu & Kashmir has been sanctioned three herbal garden projects in the past three years.
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that these projects aim to promote medicinal plant cultivation, boost research, and strengthen the region’s traditional medicine ecosystem.
The Government Unani Medical College, Ganderbal, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, and Government College of Education, Jammu, have been selected for this initiative.
Between 2021-22 and 2024-25, the Union Territory (UT) of J&K received rupees 7.42 crore for herbal garden projects. The funding has shown an upward trend over the years, indicating increased government focus on this sector.
In 2021-22, rupees 1.83 crore was allocated, followed by rupees 1.12 crore in 2022-23. The amount increased to rupees 1.48 crore in 2023-24 and reached its highest in 2024-25 at rupees 2.99 crore.
