Jammu, August 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday activated the National General Emergency Response System, Dial 112, to provide immediate assistance to people during emergencies through a single helpline.
The service has been made available through police stations across the Jammu zone, enabling people to seek prompt assistance in emergency situations.
According to officials, the emergency response system can be used for a range of emergencies, including fire incidents, medical emergencies, women-related assistance and disaster-related situations.
Police have urged the public to make full use of the Dial 112 facility whenever immediate assistance is required.
The activation of the service is aimed at strengthening emergency response and ensuring that people can access police assistance through a unified emergency number.
The development comes ahead of Independence Day, when security and emergency preparedness have been intensified across Jammu and Kashmir.
The National General Emergency Response System provides a single point of contact for emergency assistance, allowing authorities to respond to distress calls more efficiently.
