JK Police Arresting Telangana Farmer In Jammu Spying Racket

Date:

SRINAGAR: A possible espionage racket on the border in Jammu has taken Jammu and Kashmir police to Telengana where it is investigating a farmer.

The New Indian Express reported that police from Arnia in Jammu have gone to the distant village of Kushtapur in Mallapur Mandal in Jagtial district to investigate a farmer, Sarikella Linganna. The farmer is being transferred to Jammu for the investigations.

Police have found that Rakesh Kumar, an accused in the spying racket, received Rs 9000 from the Telangana farmer in two instalments. The money was transferred into his bank account. Kumar is a resident of Arnia who works with the army as a labourer was arrested on January 7. The money transfers took place in February on two different dates.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police believe that Kumar was honey-trapped by a woman named Anita over Facebook. Police suspect Anita was a Pakistani agent. Kumar has allegedly revealed, “sensitive” information to “her” on the social media. It was during the investigation of Kumar that the money transaction was detected, which led the police to visit Telangana.

“According to Metpally Inspector of Police M Ravi Kumar, the Arniya police team, including an SI, one head constable and one constable, visited Kustapur and they were coordinating with the local police to unravel the Khustapur angle,” the newspaper reported. The farmer was summoned to the police station for questioning that led to tensions in the belt. “But Linganna denied the allegation of sending money to Rakesh. He told the police that he had sent the money to one of his relatives in Dubai and that he did not know how the money went into Rakesh Kumar’s account.”

The reports said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police are preparing to take Linganna to Jammu after informing the magistrate of the Metpally court.

Earlier reports said that Kumar was arrested for Arnia border town, was held for sharing information about security installations with the girl. After registering an FIR, Kumar was sent to the Joint Interrogation Centre for further questioning.
