J&K police gears up to buy bullet-proof ambulances

E-tenders floated, Vehicles being procured for operational, law and order purposes, say officials

Srinagar, Dec 27 :  For the first time since its existence, Jammu and Kashmir police is planning to buy four-bullet proof ambulances for operational and law and order purposes mainly to provide immediate attention to cops who sustained injuries in action.

According to the wire service— e-tenders have been floated on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT. “E-tenders are hereby floated for purchase of 4×4 bullet resistant ambulances for operation/law and order duties,” reads the e-tender floated by the police headquarters J&K. “Tenders shall be submitted online.”

A police officer privy to the development said that it was a long need to procure ambulances to ferry injured cops, other security forces personnel who sustained critical wounds in line of duty. “The aim is to save the lives of men on duty,” he said. The ambulances will be laced with modern life-saving gadgets that include oxygen cylinders, Normal Saline, pain killers, both tablets, injectable, and inbuilt ventilators. “The ambulances will also have first-aid system to for immediate treatment of the injured security personnel.”

He said that the immediate treatment to the injured can help save lives. “In future, more ambulances would be procured while as four were sufficient to begin with,” the official told news agency, wishing not to be named. “Of the four ambulances, one will be given to Jammu region, while three will be kept in Kashmir,” the official said. (KNO)
