The Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to organize a cycling race “Pedal for Peace” on September 19 in Srinagar.
Sports officer JKP Kuldeep handoo, who is also a Dronachariya Awardee, told Rising Kashmir that the motive behind organizing this event is to engage youth in sports and adventurous activities and channelize their energy positively.
The top position holders shall be awarded with cash prizes in six age categories.
Professional cyclists/cyclists across Kashmir shall be participating under various age categories.
In Senior Men in all terrain bikes (ATB) professional cycling (above 17) Cash prize of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 shall be awarded to first, second and third position holders respectively.
In Senior Men Mountain terrain Bikes (MTB) (above 17 age), Cash prize of Rs. 20,000 Rs. 15,000 Rs. 10,000 Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 shall be awarded to first five position holders.
In Girls categories MTB above age group of 14, cash prize of 25,000 rupees, Rs. 20,000 Rs. 15,000 Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 shall be awarded to first five position holders respectively.
Junior boys under 17 age category in MTB, cyclists in first five position holders shall be awarded with cash prize of Rs. 20,000 Rs. 15,000 Rs. 10,000 Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 respectively.
Sub junior boys under 14 categories MTB Rs.15, 000, Rs.10, 000 Rs. 5,000, Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 for next five position holders respectively.
Sub junior girls under 14 categories (MTB) (cyclists) 15000, 10000, 5000, 3000, 2000, and 1000 for five next position holders respectively.
Counters for the registration of particpation in this race have been opened at Lake View Police Golf Course & Environmental Park, Gindun Park Rajbagh, SK Indoor Stadium, University of Kashmir, Hazratbal & Nehru Park Srinagar.
For senior Men in all terrain bikes (ATB) the race will start at Police Golf Course to Nagbal Chowk in Ganderbal and back. In senior men’s Mountain Terrain Bikes(MTB) the race will start at Police Golf Course to University of Kashmir crossing and back.
In Girls categories MTB above age group of 14, the race will start at Police Golf Course to Duck Park and back.
in Junior boys under 17 age category in MTB, the race will start at Police Golf Course to Habak Crossing and back.
Sub junior boys under 14 categories MTB, the race will start at Police Golf Course to Duck Park and back.
Sub junior girls under 14 categories (MTB), the race wiill start at Police Golf Course to Nishat garden and back.
The reporting time for the race is 5 a.m. for every participant irrespective of the age category.
