SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Kashmir witnessed a momentous occasion for its tourism sector as a group of global beauty icons set foot in the region, marking a significant boost to MICE tourism.
The visit, organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, is a precursor to the upcoming Miss World pageant in 2023.
The esteemed group includes the likes of Miss World Karolina Bielawska, Miss World Caribbean Emmy Pena, Miss World America Shree Saini, Miss World India Sini Shetty, Miss World England Jessica Gagen, Miss Asia Pricilia Carla Saputri Yules, along with the Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, Julia Eric Morley, and her team. Also present is Rouble Negi, the founder of Rouble Negi Art Foundation.
This carefully curated visit holds the potential to further elevate MICE tourism in J&K, building upon the positive momentum created by the successful 3rd Working Group meeting of G20 countries held in the region earlier this year. The G20 event proved transformative, drawing international attention and increasing foreign traveler footfall in the UT. With numerous national and international corporate entities planning events in the region, and high-profile dignitaries making visits, the tourism landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation.
Amid this evolving scenario, the visit of these renowned beauty queens to Kashmir is set to capture the global tourism market’s attention, showcasing J&K’s natural beauty, corporate event capabilities, wedding tourism potential, local craftsmanship, and cuisine. This strategic move positions J&K as a prime destination for major global and corporate events, expected to invigorate the local tourism, craft industry, and economy like never before.
The forward-looking vision behind this positive shift in the tourism landscape can be attributed to the focused leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His involvement, along with the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah and Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, has been instrumental in driving this transformative change in the UT’s tourism sector.
During their visit, the delegation engaged with the media in an informal discussion. Jamil Saidi, Chairman of PME, expressed his admiration for Kashmir as India’s crowning jewel and praised its unity in diversity, thanking Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and the Tourism Department for hosting them. Addressing the possibility of J&K hosting major global beauty and corporate events, Saidi expressed confidence in the region’s capabilities.
The visit of these global beauty divas to Jammu & Kashmir promises a blend of elegance, artistry, and cultural exchange. Beyond showcasing the region’s breathtaking landscapes, the visit also serves as a global platform for local artists and artisans, fostering interaction with the international community. This engagement allows the divas to immerse themselves in the scenic beauty and local artistry of Jammu and Kashmir, while also highlighting the region’s distinctive heritage.
