Waseem Raja receives awards on behalf of J&K Tourism; stall draws strong response from Maharashtra tour operators and stakeholders
Srinagar, October 31: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism has won two awards at the recently concluded India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Mumbai, being recognised as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination and Best Experiential Tourism Destination.
The awards were received by Waseem Raja, Joint Director, Tourism Kashmir, on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department.
The recognition highlights Jammu and Kashmir’s growing popularity as a destination for adventure activities and experiential tourism, offering visitors opportunities to explore its natural landscapes, cultural heritage and local experiences.
IITM is a tourism promotion event organised across different states of the country, bringing together tourism departments, travel operators and private stakeholders to showcase destinations and promote tourism opportunities.
Jammu and Kashmir Tourism participated in the event alongside several states, including Gujarat and Telangana, as well as private tourism stakeholders. The event was held at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai.
The J&K Tourism stall attracted considerable interest from local tour operators and tourism stakeholders from Maharashtra. Hundreds of visitors reportedly visited the stall during the two-day event to learn about tourism opportunities and destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The department’s delegation comprised Waseem Raja, Joint Director, Tourism Kashmir, and Vivek Puri, Chief Executive Officer of the Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority.
During the event, the delegation held meetings with prominent tour operators and tourism stakeholders from Maharashtra to discuss opportunities for promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a tourism destination and strengthening tourism-related partnerships.
The interactions focused on expanding the destination’s visibility among travellers and building connections with tour operators to encourage more visitors to explore the region.
The two awards add to Jammu and Kashmir’s efforts to position itself as a major tourism destination, particularly in adventure and experiential tourism.
