Srinagar, Jun 23 : J&K Youth Alliance organises one-day Seminar at Kangan Town, the seminar was titled was “Youth against Corruption”. The Chief Guest of seminar was SDPO Kangan Sheikh Tahir Amin and SDM Kangan Masrat Hashim.
The initial proceedings of seminar were started moderator by JKYA Distt Ganderbal president, Sajad Farooq Rather.
While speaking Sajad said, education is a powerful tool to fight corruption; but corruption is within the education system too. Corrupt education systems can prevent young people from achieving their potential by depriving them of adequate learning conditions and educational opportunities. Moreover, a corrupt education sector serves as a breeding ground for corruption itself, by teaching the younger generation that corrupt behaviour is acceptable. Therefore, an education sector free of corruption is imperative to the promotion of a culture of ethics and anti-corruption among youth. In order to become efficient observers of corruption, youth activists need to acquire skills and learn about tools that can help them uncover and denounce different forms of corruption. Representatives of university students and school students are part of the Platform and hence the role of young people as “stakeholders” in the fight against corruption is recognised also on an institutional level. Engaging youth in the fight against corruption can also take the form of youth own-led initiatives and movements. Especially informal youth groups can find it easier to act at the local, grass-root level, outside of the rigid association structures, even if the latter can add significant catalysing value by providing platforms, resources, knowledge, visibility etc.
The seminar was attended by more than participants from different colleges and universities.
Chief Guest Tahir Amin while speaking said, the youth need to be engaged at the design stage of policies concerning them. The more the youth takes the lead, the more the policies have the chance to succeed. Every person has their own dignity and some fundamental rights. Corruption also affects the fundamental rights. We should be honest to ourselves. Until and unless we will not be honest, we can’t control corruption. If each of us is honest towards our profession, then corruption will automatically decrease. We need to pay attention towards professional accountability i.e., how much we are faithful and truthful towards our profession. SDPO said support from Police department to youth for eradicating this menace will be fully given.
Adnan Wani, Sana JKYA Spokesperson, Farhana women’s president spoke about the aims and objectives of J&K Youth Alliance, Jammu Kashmir Youth Alliance aims at making Jammu and Kashmir capable, competent, safe and prosperous State. Jammu Kashmir Youth Alliance (JKYA) wants to see Jammu and Kashmir State competent in a way, where thoughts are progressive, vision is lucid and clear, liberal & democratic in behaviour, brave & proud of their lineage and is continuously engaged in reconstructing a new Jammu and Kashmir (NAYA KASHMIR).
The participants were from Department of Law, NIT, Govt Degree College Kangan Degree College Ganderbal, National Institute Bangalore and other colleges as well. After finishing the speaking hours Youth intended to join J&K Youth Alliance.
