SRINAGAR, June 2: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Employees Association (JKAEA), Secretariat Unit, today met members of the 8th Pay Commission at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, during the Commission’s special visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit of the 8th Pay Commission assumes significant importance as it is aimed at gathering first-hand inputs from various stakeholders regarding issues and expectations related to the forthcoming pay revision exercise. The Commission is interacting with different employee groups, associations, and departments to understand service-related concerns and aspirations before finalizing its recommendations.
During the meeting, the JKAEA delegation submitted a comprehensive memorandum to the Commission in both hard and soft copy formats. The memorandum contained detailed representations highlighting various issues and concerns pertaining to the Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Services and Accounts Employees. The delegation elaborately presented its views and demands before the Commission, emphasizing matters related to pay structure, service conditions, career progression, professional recognition, and other issues affecting employees of the Accounts cadre.
The representatives of JKAEA informed the Commission about the unique nature of responsibilities discharged by Accounts personnel and underscored the need for appropriate consideration of their role while framing recommendations under the upcoming Pay Commission. The delegation also highlighted several long-pending concerns and sought suitable interventions to address disparities and challenges faced by employees working in the Accounts Services.
Members of the 8th Pay Commission gave a patient hearing to the delegation and took note of the issues raised during the interaction. The Commission assured that the points presented in the memorandum would be examined and considered while formulating its recommendations. The constructive and cordial atmosphere of the meeting enabled a detailed discussion on various matters of concern to the Accounts fraternity.
Following the meeting, the Jammu and Kashmir Accounts Employees Association expressed its gratitude to the Chairperson and all the esteemed members of the 8th Pay Commission for sparing their valuable time and providing an opportunity to present the concerns of Accounts Services employees. The Association appreciated the Commission’s attentive approach and willingness to engage with employee representatives.
JKAEA also conveyed its sincere thanks to the liaison officers of the Finance Department for their positive support, cooperation, and effective coordination in facilitating the interaction between the Association and the Commission. The Association acknowledged the efforts of the department in ensuring smooth arrangements for the meeting.
The interaction is being viewed as a significant step towards ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of Accounts Services employees are adequately represented before the 8th Pay Commission. Employees across the cadre are hopeful that the issues raised during the meeting will receive due consideration in the Commission’s final recommendations, paving the way for improved service conditions and enhanced professional recognition for Accounts personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
