Ashraf Mir, Farooq Andrabi express solidarity Namtahali family
SRINAGAR, September 7: Jammu and Kashmir Apni party (JKAP) provincial president Kashmir province Mohammad Ashraf Mir and party leader Farooq Andrabi on Monday mourned the loss of a young policeman Ashiq Hussain Ganaie from Chadoora who had an accident on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and whose body was retrieved from a river in Reasi district yesterday.
In a statement issued here, the JKAP leaders expressed deep shock and grief over the incident and urged the government to expedite its operation for tracing the fellow passengers of the deceased who are missing since August 31. “JKAP expresses heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family especially with that of Ghulam Nabi Namthali (maternal uncle of the deceased) and the entire family of late Abdul Gani Namtahali (grandfather of the deceased),” they said.
The JKAP provincial president also stressed on the strict enforcement of road safety norms so as to prevent such tragic mishaps in future. “It seems that these fatal accidents on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway have now become a norm and the recurring loss of human lives have assumed the significance of mere statistics for the government. The law enforcement wing of the traffic department seems in deep slumber,” Mir said adding that the government should press into service modern gadgetry to check the speedy vehicles on this road so that the alarming rate of accidents is prevented to some extent.
