Raqeeq Ahmed Khan appeals Govt to mass promote students in J&K

Jammu, July 14: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party today staged a protest demonstration outside the University of Jammu demanding roll back of decision to hold examination on September 23 and promote students in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the University Grant Commission (UGC) guidelines, the universities have been asked to hold examinations from September 23 in Jammu and Kashmir like rest of the country.
However, the JKAP has opposed the move especially in view of pandemic spread in the country and disruption it has caused to the studies of the students.

To oppose the move, the youth wing of the JKAP under the leadership of Raqeeq Ahmed Khan protested outside the Jammu University campus and staged a sit-in for some time to press for their demand.

In a statement to the press, the senior youth leader, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan said that “If the decision of holding the examination is not taken back, they will intensify their protests across Jammu and Kashmir.”

Khan said that it is not in the interest of the students when the covid has taken many lives and infection has scared the common masses. The JKAP, he said, has resolved to fight for the cause of the students and demanded that the Government must intervene to give relief to the students with their mass promotion.

Meanwhile, Anuj Manhas student leader JkAp said that “The country witnessed covid cases and J&K also facing the same situation. How come students from far-flung areas attend the examination in these 9 universities and two central universities?”

Anuj Manhas said that “It is not possible for the students to study when Jammu and Kashmir is in lockdown, colleges and universities are closed and internet speed is 2G.”

He said that the students many times fail to open any website concerning their studies. In these circumstances, he said, it would not be appropriate to hold examinations and hence, they should be rolled back and all the students should be mass-promoted.

Another student leader of JKAP, Hateshver Singh said that “The students pursuing their studies in 38 paramedical courses should also be mass promoted in Jammu and Kashmir.”
