SRINAGAR, Oct 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Friday announced a 15 percent relaxation in the syllabus for students of Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th appearing in the Annual Regular 2025 examinations scheduled for the October–November session.
According to an official notification issued by the Academic Division of JKBOSE, the relaxation has been granted following recommendations from the Directorate of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir (DSEK/J), and other stakeholders. The decision was taken in view of the delayed commencement of the academic session this year and frequent disruptions in the academic calendar due to extreme weather conditions, including heat waves, torrential rains, cloudbursts, and floods.
“As approved by the competent authority, it is hereby notified that the prospective eligible students appearing in Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th in the ensuing Annual Regular 2025 examination (Oct–Nov session) in Kashmir Division and winter zone areas of Jammu Division including the UT of Ladakh shall attempt 85 percent marks which will correspond to 100 percent marks, availing thus 15 percent relaxation in syllabus,” the notification reads.
However, JKBOSE clarified that the question papers will be set from the entire prescribed syllabus, and students will have to attempt only 85 percent of the questions within the internal choice provided in the papers.
The notification further mentions that each Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) attempted by students will be marked individually, and the same marking pattern will apply to the grammar portion of language subjects.
The decision is expected to provide significant relief to students who faced academic setbacks due to adverse weather and late starts in the academic year.
The notification, bearing number F(Acad-C) Con/E-/X/XI/XII/25, was issued by the Director of Academics, JKBOSE, on October 4, 2025.
