GANDERBAL: Residents of Shahsultan Colony Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday blocked Srinagar-Leh Highway at Kangan to protest against the power crisis in the area.

Protesters, mostly women held a Dharna and disrupted traffic movement on the road, and alleged that the area is reeling under darkness from past one week while PDD has been making no efforts to restore the electricity in the area.

Protesters demanded immediate restoration of electricity and alleged due to technical snag in transformer students are facing immense hardships these days.

The protesters further said that officials had already given assurance of bringing the transfomer back to the locality, but till this time the area has been under tremendous darkness and faces hardships.

Later a police team from PS Kangan reached the spot and assured protesters that matter will be taken with the higher authorities for early redressal.
