Internet kiosks to be established for filling of forms



SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13: Principal Secretary, Social Welfare, Planning and Monitoring, Rohit Kansal Friday called for wider publicity of various scholarship schemes run by the   Social Welfare Department.

He made these remarks during a meeting to review status of various Social Welfare Schemes. The schemes that came up for discussion include Pre-matric, Post-matric, pension schemes and other schemes for disabled persons. 

Calling for sustained and coordinated efforts, he said that the Government of India (GoI) wants 100% coverage in all schemes so that no eligible person is left out of the 85 schemes that have been identified by GoI and JK Government.

He directed that all the scholarship schemes should be given wider publicity in print and electronic media in next five days and compliance report duly sent to the concerned Director General.

He asked the Director Generals that they should hold a review meeting with District Social Welfare Officers and also invite Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education officers and move forward in a coordinated manner for better results.

Kansal asked the District Social Welfare Officers that they should work in close coordination with teachers and heads of the institutions so that every student is covered under the scheme.

He assured that scholarship money will be transferred as soon as the preparatory activity is completed. He said the money including the unspent balances of last year will be released within 30 days.

He said internet kiosks will be opened up in every district so that students will be able to fill their scholarship application forms.

About the pension schemes, he asked the officers to adjust as many people as possible in NSAP instead of ISSS so that they do not face any problems in future.

Director General Social Welfare Department Kashmir Ruksana Gani, Mansion Director ICPS, senior officers of Social Welfare Department  attended the meeting while Director General Social Welfare Department Jammu Rehana Batool, District Social Welfare Officers of Poonch, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri, Doda, Reasi attended the meeting via video conferencing.
