Srinagar, Jun 05 : The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil has written to Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, BD Sharma to lodge their protest over not inviting them to foundation stone laying ceremonies of PMGSY roads in the district on Sunday.

In a letter, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KN0), Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, Hill Council Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan has written to the LG that the concerned department(R&B) neither informed the Hill Council nor councilors of the areas where foundation stones were laid for road projects.

“It may be noted that the concerned department did not bother to inform the LAHDC Kargil,” reads the letter written by the CEC.

In the letter, the CEC has said that the incident undermines dignity of the Hill Council.

The foundation stone of the road projects was laid by Ladakh MP Jamayang Namgayal and chairperson Haj Committee Ladakh, Muhammad Ali Majaz.

The letter also claims that DC Kargil, who also happens to be chief executive officer of the Hill Council, was also not informed about the function.

The CEC has asked the LG to take necessary corrective action in the matter. “The LAHDC Kargil views this seriously and on behalf of the Council, I request you to take suo moto notice of the matter and take necessary corrective measures so that the same is not repeated in future. An early action in the matter shall be highly solicited,” the letter states.

When contacted, Commissioner Secretary, PWD, Ajeet Kumar Sahoo, said that he is not aware of the matter—(KNO)
