Addresses workers meeting, demands work on Sadhna Top tunnel

SRINAGAR, September 17: Apni Party leader and former MLA Raja Manzoor on Thursday emphasized on the need for a comprehensive developmental plan for Karnah constituency so as to end further deprivation of its inhabitants.

Addressing a meeting of party workers at Karnah, Manzoor said that one of the major problems faced by the locals here is that of a dependable road infrastructure. “Karnah witnesses frequent road accidents and closure of Sadhna pass remains a perpetual agony for the people. The government of India should address our long pending demand for construction of a tunnel that will make this road round the year land connectivity for the people. This tunnel will not only reduce the distance on either side at Sadhna top but will surely curb the loss of precious human lives,” he observed.

He stressed on the J&K government to address the issues of basic amenities at Karnah like healthcare, education, irrigation, phone connectivity and electricity. “The people of this area are suffering immensely for want of these amenities and the administration seems in deep slumber vis-à-vis our problems. In this modern day world, people of Keran and Jumgund are still craving for landline telephone connections not to talk of 4G internet services. Such is the height of official apathy towards our constituency,” Apni Party leader remarked.

Similarly, he said that the government must remove the anomalies in reservations for Pahari speaking people if it is really serious in extending some benefits to the community. “The government should remove income slab for availing Pahari speaking reservation or otherwise there is no fun of this constitutional exercise,” he added.

Manzoor urged the J&K government to equip the healthcare centres in the entire Karnah constituency so as to enable them to cope up with the emergency like situations. “The residents of this constituency live in pathetic condition and the hospitals are facing shortage of doctors, besides, lack of basic infrastructure,” he observed.

On this occasion, the Apni Party leader urged the workers to put in all their efforts to strengthen the Party base in the constituency. “Under the leadership of our visionary leader Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, our basic agenda is to see holistic development of J&K which includes equitable development of its all regions and sub regions accordingly. We should visit the fields and put our best to address the day-to-day issues of the people,” he added.

Manzoor pledged that the Apni Party under its leadership will continue to strive for restoration of Statehood and other demands projected by the party including comprehensive domicile rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
