Kashmir jewellers dismiss rumours about inferior gold coins

Date:

‘People should not pay heed, ready to take responsibility in case of any difference’

Srinagar, Jun 03 : The jewellers in Kashmir on Saturday dismissed the claims of inferior quality of gold coins in the Valley and asked people not to pay heed over the rumours.

Addressing a news conference here, All Kashmir gold dealers and workers association, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that some of the people with vested interests from different states of the country are selling the gold coins here at exorbitant rates and terming the Valley based gold coins approved by central government as inferior.

However, the association president, Bashir Ahmad Rather, said that the gold coins available with the jewellers here have been approved by the central government and there was no difference between the gold coins of Kashmir the other being brought to Kashmir that are being sold at the cost of over Rs 70,000.

“We are not able to understand that despite having the same quality, weight and other things, the gold coins of Kashmir are being identified as inferior,” Rather said, adding that there is a need to act against such grave issues and the people should not pay heed over it.

“We are selling the valid gold coins and the government should act in this regard. If the government would find any difference between the two coins, we are ready to take the responsibility and face the law,” Rather said—(KNO)
