Kashmir receives another spell of snowfall

Kashmir received another spell of snowfall on Sunday, even as Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for vehicular traffic late in the evening.
Pertinently, on November 7, Kashmir received season’s first snowfall, heaviest during the past four decades in the November month.

Higher reaches, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Pir Panchal mountain range and other places, received moderate snowfall.

Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recorded minus 1.6 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 8.2 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 4.2 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 4.0 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius last night.

Leh town in Ladakh region was coldest at minus 11.8 degrees Celsius.

Jammu recorded a low of 9.3, Katra 9.1, Batote 1.6, Bannihal recorded 1.6 and Bhaderwah recorded 0.5 degrees Celsius.
