Ganderbal, June 19: In a remarkable achievement that has brought pride to Kashmir, Muhammad Abdul Raheem, a Class 11 student from Nunner village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, has secured an undergraduate admission offer from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States—widely regarded as one of the world’s leading institutions for science, engineering, artificial intelligence, and technological research.
Abdul Raheem completed his schooling up to Class 10 at Hilltop Educational Institute, Darend, Ganderbal, and is currently pursuing higher secondary education at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ganderbal. Through years of dedication, self-learning, and technological innovation, he has emerged as one of the region’s most promising young talents.
Belonging to a family of five and residing in Nunner village, about five kilometres from Ganderbal town, Abdul Raheem has earned recognition for his accomplishments in programming, software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
His admission to MIT is being hailed as a significant milestone for the region, given the institution’s reputation as one of the most competitive and prestigious universities in the world.
Apart from his academic achievements, Abdul Raheem has also demonstrated a strong passion for innovation and technology. Among his notable projects is KrishiBot, an agriculture-focused robotic system designed to integrate artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation into modern farming practices.
The project was developed independently by Abdul Raheem to explore how emerging technologies can assist farmers in crop monitoring, resource management, and agricultural efficiency. The innovation has drawn appreciation from educators, technology professionals, and innovation communities.
Among his other achievements, Abdul Raheem secured Rank 258 globally in Round 3 of the Meta Hacker Cup 2024 and achieved Rank 4 in India, Rank 6 in Asia, and Rank 42 globally in the ICode competition, highlighting his excellence in competitive programming.
As he prepares to begin the next chapter of his academic journey at MIT, Abdul Raheem remains committed to advancing research and innovation in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and robotics.
