Major economic package on cards, all politician’s looted people of Kashmir in past 70 years
Srinagar, Jan 21 : Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said that in the past 70 years, all the politicians looted the resources of erstwhile state and played with the emotions of people on one or the other pretext. He said gone are the day when politicians were free to play with peoples interests and were instead filling their own coffers.
Talking exclusively to wire service— in Srinagar, Naqvi said that since past 70 years, J&K especially Kashmir has been the victim of political corruption and governance was always hijacked by a particular sect of politicians. Naqvi arrived in Srinagar as party Centre’s outreach program for J&K under which 36 Union Ministers are supposed to visit far off places in Kashmir and Jammu.
“Nobody can now play with the emotions of people of Kashmir. A transparent system and corruption free life for the people of Kashmir is on cards,” he said. He said that in the coming days, a major developmental package was on cards for Kashmir which will be announced by the Prime Minister Narendera Modi. “The scheme will cover all segments of life, students as well,” he said.
On the scholarships to the children, Naqvi said that J&K UT will get full share of the Centre’s scholarship program for students. “We have a plan to cover one crore students across country under scholarship program and J&K will get large share out of it. So far we have received 80,000 applications from J&K students. I urge all the children including those studying in class first to submit scholarship forms,” said Naqvi. “We are supposed to cover 10 lakh children in the next five years under scholarship program in J&K alone.”
He said even if there are ten lakh students from J&K UT, who would submit forms under scholarship program, “all will be covered.” Naqvi said that in the coming days, there will be a “positive atmosphere all around.”
“I met 15 delegations in Srinagar today including a few at Fakir Gujri area. I also had a Shikara ride in Dal Lake and met Shikara owners and other tour operators. People are happy but they have issues which we are taking care of. I didn’t feel cold in the Dal Lake but yes I felt the warmth of people and their hospitality,” Naqvi said. (KNO)
