Kashmiri students stuck in Jaisalmer despite completing 28 days quarantine

Srinagar Apr 03: Near around one hundred fifty Iran returned MBBS students of Kashmir, who despite testing negative twice and completing their 28 days quarantine period has demanded to Authorities for their return.


According to sources at around 170 Kashmiri MBBS students and 60 pilgrims, who were evacuated by the government from Iran and put all of them in a quarantine facility at Army Wellness Centre in Rajasthan.


The stuck bound students told this Correspondent over the phone that as according to the proper medical protocol they have completed their fourteen days quarantine and tested with negative diagnosis as out them only five tests have come in positive which have been put in isolation for treatment. However, we are still waiting for any possible fair move for our return” the aggrieved students said.

The air and road traffic which is suspended at present due to the global pendiuem, which according to officials is the main concern, and can not be allowed the students to go to their respective destinations.  so that the student can’t be allowed to go home, but they are unable to give an alternative. 


Meanwhile, the Governor administration has urged the Students who are outside to remain there for some time, however, the Students find it hard to accommodate their due to financial constraints, as well as they are unable to buy their essential commodities in view of the bandh.


“Kindly take our voice to concerns authorities so that we can reach our home, said a deprived student to this Kashmir Despatch Correspondent”.


Another student namely Faizan (name changed) told Kashmir Despatch that students are facing tough times and the whole country is under lockdown and we appeal to the government of Jammu and Kashmir to help them and facilitate way so that they will rerun to their native places.


Meanwhile, the president private school association GN WAR has taken strong note on this grave issue and told Kashmir Despatch that “Transporting them to Kashmir is not such a challenge, it will need just a couple of buses and clearance certificates and they will be in their homes within 24 hours.” he said

He further told this Correspondent that the students wouldn’t mind remaining there but the authorities are unable to give any time frame to these students as to when they can go home. “No one is telling them when they can leave, so that leaves these students to deal with a huge amount of uncertainty. They had already suffered a lot in Iran and now they don’t know when they can go home,” said Var. 


The anxious parents have demanded to Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor GC Murmu for his intervention to promptly arrange the transport for the evacuation of their wards from Rajasthan who are presently stuck in different parts of the country, however, the Union Government had given orders for complete lockdown in view of pendiuem.

The parents and the private school association has called on the LG administration to resolve the issue at the earliest.“Nobody knows how long the situations remains as such so it is better they are shifted sooner than later.” said an aggrevied parent.
