BANDIPORA, Mar 7: A day after a report was published by Kashmir Despatch on a damaged school building in Gurez, authorities on Thursday geared up to take up the work to repair the school building.

The move has cheered up locals and students who would otherwise suffer a lot of difficulties.

Kashmir Despatch had recently carried a news with the headline ‘9 years on damaged school building, awaits repair’ and highlighted the sufferings of the students in taking their classes in school.

The locals hailed the efforts of authorities and were concerned for the prompt action within 24 hours after a news report was published about the issue.

“It is after the news was published in Kashmir Despatch, the concerned department visited the school building and issued a tender for the repair work of the school building which was awaited for the last 9 years,” Mohammad Niyaz a local resident told Kashmir Despatch.
