Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has claimed that with the augmentation of power infrastructure further in Jammu and Kashmir, the Valley would likely witness less power curtailments in the upcoming winter season.
The new power curtailment schedule will be announced next month. The claims have been made by none other than the Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Javed Yousuf Dar who says that the power infrastructure has further been augmented in the past one year.
According to these claims there were less power curtailments in the last winters and with the further augmentation of power infrastructure, more relief is expected to the consumers this winter as well.
It has been witnessed for decades that the power development department utterly fails during winters in Kashmir when the demand for the power supply reaches its peak. Now how far the new claims are true, only time can tell. The power infrastructure has been augmented in the last one year and that is why there is a drastic decline in the day-to-day basis protests that were earlier staged for want of poles, low tension conductors.
These efforts have also resulted in the amnesty scheme that was launched by the J&K government to waive off the amount of interest on electricity bills of domestic consumers. Need of the hour is that the government of J&K should focus on power generation and the curtailment in transmissions and distribution losses.
