Kulgam Encounter: Two Militants killed, Operation on: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, May 25:Two militants have been killed in ongoing gunfight which broke out between militants and goverment forces in Khur Hanjipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar (IPS) told GNS that two militants have been killed in ongoing operation. However the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, the IGP said.

Earlier reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched cordon search operation in Hanjipora.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about the exchange of firing between forces and militants. As per the sources two to three militants believed to be trapped.(GNS)
